Tools Required For Assembly
1/2” socket wrench 1/2” open end wrench Long nose pliers
Identifying Panels
Top: Two 3” long tabs and Two 1 5/8” short tabs. With Center bar
Front: Four 1 5/8” tabs positioned the same. No Center bar
Sides: These have One 5/8” hole and lock hasp on the outsides. Three tabs are flat on the inside and One tab protrudes out on the outside. There are both right and left side panels.
Bolts: 6 - 3/4” x 5/16” Bolts (per guard)
Nuts: 6 - 5/16” Nuts (per guard)
Pivots: 2 (per guard)
Shoes: 2 (per guard)
Concrete Fasteners & Padlocks: The customer to provides these.
Sort out the panels in to their location, TOP, FRONT, SIDES, and in the case of a 4 sided guard the REAR panel. These are typically palletized together and can easily be identified with the provided “PALLET CONTENT” packing lists which have the location and specific size for your order. Or see the reverse of this page to quickly identify panels.

Hardware is packaged in bulk and is typically found on top of the guard pallets. Find the provided “HARDWARE PACKING LIST” for details and to verify you have received everything stated. Please sign as instructed and return to our offices for filing.

Now you are ready to begin assembling the panels together.

We suggest assembling the guard upside down, so lay the Top panel face down on the ground with the inside facing up toward you. Remember to use a piece of cardboard to prevent the Top panel from being scratched during assembly.

 Step 1:
Now you need to determine the front from the rear of the top panel. To do so, measure to the distance from the edge of the panel to the center line of the tab. The Front distance measure 1.125”. See picture 1. Once this is identified you can begin assembling the front, and side panels.

Locate 1 front, 1 side and the appropriate nuts and bolts for assembly. Align these panels’ tabs with the top panels tab. Top panel tab to the inside, front panel tab center and side panel tab on the outside. See picture 2. Using the 3/4” bolt and nut, finger tighten these panels together. Nut secures on the outside of side panel tab.

Step 3:
Now again using the 3/4” bolts and nut finger tighten the bottom tabs for the side and front panels. Front panel tab to the inside, side tab on the outside. Nut secures on the outside. See picture 3. Repeat this step for the rear of the guard as well.

Repeat Step 2 & 3 for the opposite side panel.

Once the bolts are all loosely

Now that you have the cage assembled you can now move on to installing the pivots and shoes.

Step 6:
First insert a pivot through the pre-drilled holes at the bottom lower rail of the SIDE panels. Be sure to leave an 1/16” gap between the pivot and SIDE panel to allow for a clean pivoting motion. The slanted side of the pivot should face toward the wall with the flat edge out as seen in picture 5 & 6. Repeat for other side.

Step 7:
Now it’s time to mark your holes for fastening through the pivots, so place the guard over the condensing unit with the open end facing the wall. The recommended inside clearance from the actual condenser unit to the guard panel is 4”. Square the guard and confirm equal clearance, mark the pivot holes on each side. Now drill and install concrete fasteners.
Step 8:
Now we will install the shoes. Raise the guard to insert the shoes so that the lock hasps align as seen in picture 7. Mark the fastening hole and then tilt the guard back to a 180 degree angle. Drill holes and insert concrete fasteners, finger tighten only first. Now tilt the guard back to its closed position, re-align the lock hasps and then you can securely tighten the concrete fasteners.
